About the Role
As Senior Principal Lawyer - Human Rights, you will:
- Be part of a team working on the cutting-edge of this important and emerging area of law.
- Provide expert legal advice on complex, high-profile human rights matters, including interventions on behalf of the Attorney-General of Queensland under the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld).
- Provide leadership and management support to team leaders in the daily operations, focusing on mentoring, supervision, collaboration, and capability
- development.
- Shape and implement legal strategies in matters arising under the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld).
- Develop and deliver human rights training programs to internal and external audiences.
- Support the Assistant Crown Solicitor, deputising when necessary, to ensure seamless operations.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland (or eligibility for admission).
- Minimum 8 years post admission including experience in human rights law.
- Exceptional strategic and advisory skills in legal matters, especially within the public sector.
- A collaborative, client-focused approach to legal service delivery.
