The Role

Due to a growing pipeline of projects, our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Legal Counsel to join their proactive and results-driven legal team based in Sydney.

In this multifaceted role, you will provide commercially insightful legal advice on major projects from inception to completion. You'll be involved in bidding and tender processes, project development, procurement, and delivery.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, your responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of construction contracts, such as PPP, D&C, EPC, JV, Construct Only, and Alliance contracts.

This position offers you the opportunity to lead diverse, large-scale, and complex projects while engaging in the commercial aspects of the business. If you're eager to leverage your legal and commercial expertise to add value to one of Australia’s top construction companies, then look no further as this is your opportunity to step up.

The Candidate

As a senior multi-disciplinary construction Lawyer, you will bring a minimum of 5 years recent experience across front-end and back-end matters. This experience will be gained either within a similar in-house position or within a mid to top-tier firm.

You should have:
  • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of project, tender, and contract documents.
  • Experience managing the delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects, providing contract, claims, and dispute avoidance strategies and legal counsel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and sustain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders while delivering commercially astute advice.
  • A highly adaptable personality, capable of handling challenges and not getting bogged down by minor details.
  • Confidence in working independently and tackling complex projects hands-on.
