The Role
Law Staff is assisting an award-winning, specialist law firm that is seeking a Legal Accounts / Bookkeeper to join the Brisbane team on a permanent part-time basis.
  
This hands-on position will see you managing both trust and office accounts, and contributing to the efficient financial operations of the firm.
  
Responsibilities include but is not limited to:
  • Routine bookkeeping, including maintaining the general ledger and reconciling accounts
  • Monitoring online bank accounts and allocating all incoming electronic payments
  • Processing and banking cheque and cash payments
  • Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Preparing and issuing monthly client invoices
  • Trust accounting tasks such as: Receipting funds into the trust account, Processing EFT payments and preparing cheques for settlements
  • Coordinating supporting documentation for bank cheques related to settlements
  • Maintaining investment registers and controlled monies accounts
  • Completing end-of-month reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Debtor management and follow-up
  • Responding to client and staff queries regarding invoices
  • Taking card payments and reconciling petty cash
  • Assisting with internal financial reporting
  • Scanning, filing, and logging accounting documents
  • Entering and updating safe custody records
  • Supporting the practice with other ad-hoc finance and admin tasks as needed.
About You
  • Prior experience as an Accounts Clerk, Officer, or Bookkeeper in a law firm
  • A solid understanding of trust accounting principles and compliance
  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
